Xizi Wang is a conductor and percussionist whose artistic voice is defined by precision, openness, and an enduring curiosity for sonic possibility. She moves between contemporary music and the classical repertoire with natural authority, bringing together analytical clarity and vivid, expressive music-making.

She was the conductor of the Internationale Ensemble Modern Akademie Frankfurt, served as Conducting Fellow of the Lucerne Festival, and has been Principal Conductor of Studio Dan since 2024.

As a conductor, she works with leading ensembles including Kammerorchester Basel, Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra, Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, Ensemble Modern, Klangforum Wien, London Sinfonietta, Het Muziek, Ensemble Remix, and Ensemble Reflektor. Her development as a conductor was further shaped through working as assistant to Ingo Metzmacher, Ilan Volkov, Susanne Mälkki, and Enno Poppe.

As one of the few female permanent principal timpanists in German cultural orchestras, she has performed with the Vienna Philharmonic, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Gürzenich-Orchester Köln, hr-Sinfonieorchester Frankfurt, and Deutsche Oper Berlin.

As a soloist, she has performed with the Philharmonisches Orchester Cottbus and the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, among others.
